The Vintri Team had an amazing time in this weekend’s 2015 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Our tiny team of three was made up of Phil Roberts and Leanna Mohan, newbies, and Geoff Thompson, a four-year race veteran, whose ride time put us all to shame. (Well done, Geoff!) Team Vintri raised $8,582 for the 2015 ride, and has raised over $24,000 in the years we’ve participated. All together, the 1,749 bikers in the 2015 ride raised an astounding $7.8 million! The money raised goes to the Alberta Cancer Foundation and directly supports patients and families at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary.
It was amazing to be a part of such a friendly and energetic crowd. Being passed on a hill by a cancer survivor, with their bright yellow flag raised high above the crowd, really reminds you how strong the human spirit is. The event was so well organized, and the volunteers so up-beat and helpful, that you almost forgot to complain about the hills and the heat. Almost!
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our team, and the volunteers that put in so many hours making sure everyone had a successful ride. We’ll see you out there in 2016!!!
